The clouds broke and the sun came out to light up Little Main Street in downtown Summerville this Thursday. Classic, antique, and show cars & trucks showed up in that usual lowcountry style - Hoods popped and everyone hanging out as if all old friends!
The temperature was perfect, a nice cool evening of cars, music, dancing, food, and fun in the historic section of town. The Local Motion Party Band was be playing great tunes, and dancers of all ages joined the Summerville Shag Club as they danced in the street. Folks, this was a good time!
Guerin's Pharmacy, along with other shops and restaurants, kept their doors open late for the crowds of spectators. Guerin’s is the oldest pharmacy in South Carolina, and have been serving our community since 1871. They’ve also be serving awesome shakes, malts, sodas, and more from their antique soda fountain since the 1920s! My personal favorite is a cherry-vanilla ice-cream soda. Oh, brudda!
Single Smile Café is a short walk to the other end of Little Main St., and there you can get a great cup of coffee or tea. Wine and Cheese your thing? You’re covered, just check out Accent on Wine, Summerville’s very own gourmet & wine shop!
Family friendly Summerville Third Thursday Festivities was a little different this month, because, thanks to Summerville D.R.E.A.M., Little Main is now open to performers, spectators and classic, antique, and show cars only! While plenty of parking if available off of Little Main St., this has eliviated the congestion normally encountered during festivities. Very nice!
Everyone enjoyed local arts & crafts along the art walk, danced to the music, enjoyed the great cars, and had a blast, all without having to wait ‘til the weekend. It was awesome. Check out the photos in our gallery!
But hey, I’m not here to rub it in. If you missed all the fun, there is always next month! Mark your calendars for Summerville 3rd Thursday, falling next month on July 18th! See you there!
